TRAILER! :)

Hello to everyone who still checks this (very poorly maintained) blog!

Here is an update on what is happening with our film and the B.Ki! Animation team:

We weren't able to finish our film this past semester due to some really exciting opportunities that we decided were too good to pass up. In March-April, we got the chance to work on the pilot episode of Young Justice as storyboard revisionists at WB (Thanks to our storyboarding professor Jay Oliva)! Brendan graduated in May and moved to Burbank to continue working at WB full time. I will be at Sony Pictures Imageworks starting this month as part of their IPAX program, training to be a 3d animator. And, both of us will continue to work on the film until it is done! We are anticipating finishing by August, and screening in December. Since this is our first film together, it means a lot to both of us to see it through! For now, we posted our trailer online and you can see it here:

(The music is "We have a map of the piano" by Mum)
The animation was done by me, and the backgrounds were drawn and painted digitally by Brendan.
Hope you like it!

Thanks for reading :)
Kiki

  1. That is one of the best student animation trailers I've seen to date. I'm so excited for your film! The look and animation is just beautiful! I love that scanner look to it with some of the construction lines showing, and fuzzy edges. It reminds me of the movies I love with that style (i.e. "Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too!" and "The Triplets of Belleville").

  2. Goddamnit! That's sexy. Totally channeling Triplets of Belleville. Can't wait to see the finished version! :D

  3. Heh I was sitting next to Red Mike at the screening this past May, and the first thing out of his mouth was "God Dammit."

I envy both of your animation/drawing skills.

  4. Really excellent work so far guys! I totally support you in seeing the film through to it's completion. The look, animation, color scheme, and character design gives the whole piece a really cool mood that not a lot of animated shorts can convey successfully.I don't know how to explain it but it feels like a good balance of melancholy and playfulness. I really like it.

  5. Thank you so much everyone! I really appreciate the feedback, and Fonzie, I am so glad you that impression from it--it is exactly what we are going for and I am so happy to hear that is coming across and working for you. :)

  6. Everyone's looking forward to it guys!!! I'd begin to compliment you but that would lead to another compliment. And another. And another. And pretty soon, I'd have a 5 page essay that you would have to not only read... but also grade ;) And I know how busy you both are.

Having said that, really top notch on everything. The old lady's oozing with personality and the finish is so beautiful!!! And ditto what everyone else said.

    Keep up the inspiration!
